About the event
How the decisions of city leaders can make all the difference
Urbanisation and climate change raise new questions about how to manage water in cities. Flooding and drought force us to include solutions mimicking a ‘natural’ hydrological cycle: water buffer and retention areas, high quality urban green, …., – for any such intervention to work as intended, community involvement becomes key. At the same time, critical decisions need to be taken at the toplevel: to integrate adaptation in general urban planning, commitment must come from the Mayor’s Office! In this session we hear from Mayors championing such innovative initiatives in their cities. Join us to learn more about what decisions city leaders are taking towards a waterresilient future, and how to make sure their plans, intentions, and whitepapers don’t end up in some drawer.
