Helmholtz SynCom and the Helmholtz Climate Initiative hosted a parliamentary evening on 8 November 2022 on the topic of ‘climate-resilient cities’. The aim of the event was to bring together experts from the research community with stakeholders from federal politics in order to identify the needs, obstacles and solutions for climate-resilient cities and to reach a common understanding of how climate-resilient cities can be realised. The focus was on federal policy, in particular to explore options for action and to sensitise the politicians present to what needs to be done at the federal level to achieve climate-resilient cities.

The three key messages relating to the content of the parliamentary event were:

1. The parliamentary evening highlights the effects of climate change that will particularly affect cities and their inhabitants in the coming years, the solutions that are available, and how these solutions can be implemented.
