What a happy day! Today I'm finally holding it in my hands: my pictures, my impressions and my visualized view of our landscape - of our mountains!
This is my first album in a long time. I gave the last album to a friend for her wedding this year with pictures of her celebration, her friends and her family. I just love capturing emotions and moods and giving others the opportunity to immerse themselves in these moments, even if they weren't there themselves. And pictures can help us relive almost forgotten memories and relive the moment.
In the past, I have mostly told stories from events: Family reunions, weddings, portrait shoots etc.. This album is different. This time I'm not showing other people, but sharing my view of the world with you. It is therefore a very personal album for me and it is about the beauty of our world and our appreciation for our nature.
Let's be honest: a few years ago, I found landscape pictures so incredibly boring and I only ever wanted to photograph people and show them with striking and less conspicuous sides. I wanted them to feel beautiful and seen. Since last year this has changed a bit and I'm now interested in a different kind of photography. I think it all started when I could spend hours on the lake with my stand-up paddle board and loved capturing the moods and the view from the water. Back then, I was still using my cell phone. And then this year I bought myself a new camera that makes my heart beat faster, fits me so perfectly and is also relatively light, so I now take it everywhere with me. Since then, it has accompanied me on the mountain and on every tour I go on. Since then, the tingling and the desire for more has returned. My creativity is growing more than it has for a long time.
That was probably the start of a new chapter in my “photography era”. I've actually been taking photos since my first communion, when my parents gave me my first camera. You had to insert a film and then you could only operate a shutter release. No bells and whistles, no zoom, just find the subject and start snapping. I took everything from flowers, my pets and our vacations to portraits and weddings. What I've always loved doing is printing out my photos and collecting them in albums or telling little stories with them. I used to do it by hand with photo glue, but now I do it digitally by ordering from a photo lab. I've made so many albums since then, most of which have gone to friends and family as gifts. Maybe you have one of mine too ;-).
Today I am happy and proud because I realize that my new album is more than just a photo album. It feels like I'm bringing my pictures to life by sharing them with the world. I am showing what I have discovered on my conscious hikes and trails in Vorarlberg and the Salzburger Land. It shows a deep connection to our nature and how deeply you can immerse yourself in your surroundings when you give yourself fully to it. Somehow this gives the whole “photography” thing a somewhat more serious touch - in a positive sense. The pictures are worth seeing and they shouldn't just lie on some hard disk and rot away. So happy birthday, dear photos and thank you for the wonderful moments! Time to be seen, so that they may touch many people and remind them of the beautiful and special world we live in, which needs to be preserved.
I have made the album available to you digitally. Enjoy browsing through it!
Kind regards,
Katharina
